| Lent
Like your Redeemer, go
to wilderness within.
Seek there the evil foe
and purge yourself of sin.
Upon that battleground,
with no advantage yours,
the tempters guiles abound.
He offers from his stores
all pleasures to be found.
A zealous heart implores,
though passions fuel be fired,
that hungry flesh not yield
to objects most desired.
The might of virtue wield,
lest you in sin be mired,
with prayer your only shield
and faith your only sword.
Strive not for earthly gain;
remember Christ, our Lord,
who purchased you with pain
the power of His Word
your spirit to sustain.
Prepare you for that day
when at the rising sun
all faithful Christians pray,
Praise God, the battles won!
OK, Ill give up chocolate.
