you’ll have nothing to fear,
so just go along
with the Poetry Police

They won’t take much time—
the Poetry Police.
And if there’s no crime,
I’m sure they’ll release
you, once you’ve explained
the scheme of your rhyme.

Oh, the Poetry Police
just want to be helpful;
and all this unpleasantness
could have been avoided
if only you had chosen to write
in free verse.
